Born in Kerala to a Catholic family of an EX-CBI officer Joseph Thottumkal and surgeon Seline Thottumkal, Asin Thottumkal popularly known as Asin is a former Indian actress who has appeared in lead roles in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films, who left the film industry after getting married to Rahul Sharma who is the co-founder of Micromax in January 2016. Throughout her career, she has won 37 awards and she was also awarded for her achievements and success in the field of entertainment by the government of Kerala in March 2012. Asin has once quoted that her name means ‘pure and without blemish’. She states that A in her name is from Sanskrit meaning without and sin from English.
