ICC investigates and warrants the charged individual, accused of gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crimes of aggression. The court participates in a global fight for ending impunity and through ICJ, it aims for holding those responsible accountable for those crimes. Moreover, it helps to prevent these crimes from happening again. Since a court alone, can’t 4each all these goals, it further seeks to complement national courts. It is governed by an international treaty that is the Rome Statute, ICC is the world’s first permanent International Criminal court.
