Permafrost refers to the permanent frosting. Due to the continuous involvement of man in disturbing the natural biotic and abiotic conditions, including pollution, this permafrost layer has too, started to get disturbed. For many years, Arctic permafrost has started to diminish. Resulting in the weakening of soil, releasing methane, hence, contributing to global warming. Water drained away from the lands into the air causes drying of wetlands, resulting in the survival of merely a few species. As a result, climate change scenarios will be amplified.
